It’s Never Enough

Matthew Henrickson Poetry

Never EnoughFor never feeling like it’s enough…

It’s Never Enough
June 28th, 2008

My best always falls short
Short of your expectations of me
Not enough of what you want
What you need
It’s never enough.

I don’t say the right things
My words don’t come out right
It’s never what you want to hear
What you need to hear
It’s never enough.

My feelings never seem to be strong enough
You think you know how I feel
It’s never what you want
It’s never what you need
It’s never enough.

My heart is a wound
That isn’t deep enough
It’s not what you want
It’s not what you need
It’s never enough.

I give you all I can
I give you all I have
It’s never what you want
It’s never what you need
It’s never enough.

It’s All For You

Matthew Henrickson Poetry

Matthew Robert HenricksonIt’s All For You
June 28th, 2008

I’ll take the responsibility
Even if it isn’t mine to bear
Even if it isn’t fair.
I’ll make the sacrifice
Because I’ll always care
Because I’ll always be there.
I will carry the load on my shoulders
So it doesn’t pull you down.
I’ll jump first
So you don’t have to drowned.
I’ll take the fall
I’ll take it all
Just so you don’t feel any pain
And in the end

I’ll take the loss
So you don’t have to lose.

To Matthew, for just one more happy day.

Happy Father’s Day – I Miss You

Matthew Henrickson Poetry, Personal

Dear Dad,

Today is Father’s Day, putting up all of these great Father’s Day poems have made me miss you even more. Father’s Day is a little bit easier, I don’t have to think about you so much. I am now a Father and have my own son to celebrate it with. I wish you would of been able to see him. He is so beautiful, you would of loved him so much. I am very proud of him, just as you were of me.

Happy Father’s Day.

This poem I wrote a long time ago, and have already published here. I thought I would again just for this occasion.

In Everything, I Find You

I’ve been reading about you every day
each story is different
but in my heart its all the same.
A loss so great with little reward
you brought the family together, after breaking our hearts
It’s impossible to miss you more,
but each day I do.
Each day theres some memory fresh and new
that brings me back thinking about you.

My father, my friend, my protector
My laugh, my smile, my trust
My eyes, my tears, my brain
My humor, my heart, my kindness
My life…
Your reflection…
and theres no one else I’d rather be

For Always, GoodBye

Matthew Henrickson Poetry

For Always, GoodBye

Goodbye.
For the pain I have lived with.
For all the time of my unhappiness.
Goodbye.

For the pain that was bestowed upon me.
For never being truly happy.
Goodbye.

For always losing the fight.
For never being right.
Goodbye.

For leaving me when I was down.
For always turning my smile into a frown.
Goodbye.

For not caring when I came to you.
For never making your lies come true.
Goodbye

For not comforting me when I’d cry…
For letting me die.
Goodbye…

Dreams of Happiness

Matthew Henrickson Poetry

Dreams of Happiness

Sunset, such a beautiful sight
The sun, the only light
Cuddling under a blanket to try to keep warm
Nothing every seeming out of the norm.
Are you happy? Of course…

Only smiles beaming from your face
Wouldn’t you too, like to be in this place?
Nothing else on your mind, but the joy of another
Not a care in the world… you are free
Too good to be true, this land of ecstasy.

Wake up, it’s all a dream
You can never be this happy it would seem
The sun doesn’t show through
The world is a cold blue
A dark cloud hovering
Hoping to some day break free
Free from the pain
With happinnes to gain.

When will the sun come out?
When will the rain of tears drought?
When will the smile be true?
When can I be happy, with you.

You – My Life

Matthew Henrickson Poetry

“You – My Life”

I never knew what loneliness was
Until I lost you
I didnt understand pain
A pain like this
Until you hurt me
I didnt know what love was
Until I loved you
I didnt have a life
Until you became mine

Our Famous Love

Matthew Henrickson Poetry

Our Famous Love

I listen to music
Get hooked by the chorus
I can only picture that being you and me
It’s like the song was written for me
And I should be singing it to you
As the lyrics flow
Its our story,
Almost word for word.

I see the television shows
Get hooked by the story line
It’s like the actors are us
Almost word for word
The plot unfolds
And it reveals… our story.

I watch movies
Get hooked by the love story
And see us
It’s ours
Almost scene for scene
And now I’m just waiting
For our happy ending.

by Matthew Henrickson

This is a short poem, but I think it’s pretty creative and was looking for it to share with you. Please share your thoughts and comments.

Poisoned Love

Matthew Henrickson Poetry

This was an interesting poem that I wrote. It was all in one flow, no edits. I hate editing…

“Poisoned Love”

Your forbidden kiss
like poison to my lips.
Diseasing my heart
Infecting me as we part.
Your love so sweet
Without it I’m incomplete.
I risk death to be in your arms
and to feel your love.
Being with you hurts my heart
and stings my soul
but it would be even worse without you.
I need to feel your love.
I need your love to continue.
I need to be plagued by your kiss
and held in your arms.
Keeping me alive
Is that poison
That starting killing me
In the beginning.

Behind the Scenes

Matthew Henrickson Poetry

“Behind the Scenes”

Behind the scenes
I reveal all
But today
I am hiding behind this mask
You see a smile on my face
My heart isn’t smiling
This person you see is fake
I won’t let you know the real one
If you come to close…
Ill back away

You don’t see my struggles
You don’t see my addictions
You don’t see the blood
You can’t see my pain
My tears are falling
But they are invisible to your eyes
My words I don’t say
I won’t let you hear them
My trust has been given away too much
I won’t let you have it
You don’t see my broken home
I won’t let you in it
You don’t see behind the scenes…
The real me.

I’ve Always Dreamed…

Matthew Henrickson Poetry

This is by far, in my opinion, the best poem I’ve written in a long time. It reminds me of another one that I’ve written, but I just can’t remember it right now.

“I’ve Always Dreamed”
March 28th, 2008

It’s always been my dream
To be somebody
I don’t need to be famous
I just want someone to think I did something
“Oh yeah, he did this…”

It’s always been my dream
To write the best poem
To be recognized as a poet
And to touch people through my writing
“Oh yeah, he wrote this…”

It’s always been my dream
To be the best father
Regardless of when it was
Just be the best for my child
“Oh yeah, that was MY dad…”

It’s always been my dream
To do something bigger than myself
To touch people on another level
Do something that really mattered
“I’ll always remember him”
